Head over to http://fivecrookedhalos.blogspot.com/ to link up to 5 Question Friday--it is VERY EASY!!
Questions for Friday, October 8th:
1. What do you listen to while driving? I have Siruus Radio (which I LOVE) so I listen to a variety of different music. If I have Colton will me (which I almost always do except when I drop him off at Grammy's and head to work) then I have 5 or 6 Kids songs CDs that we listen too.
2. What is your least favorite thing about Fall? My least favorite thing about Fall is the end of daylight savings time. I hate that it is dark at 5:30 and we can't go outside to play or go to the barn after dinner.
3. What does your dream house look like, inside and out? My "dream house" would be a HUGE Victorian style house on the outside, surrounded by big Southern magnolia trees. It would be on about 100 acres with a long dirt driveway. Close to town, but obvioulsly not in a subdivision. Kinda like where I live now location wise (2 miles from Wal-Mart and 5 miles fron "downtown". Inside it would be "homey" with hardwood floors throughout, except carpet in the bedrooms. Tall vaulted ceilings and a big staircase with a banister that Colton could try and slide down.
4. Would you ever own a minivan? I don't see any reason for me to have a minivan with only one kid. I do have a SUV, does that count?
5. Do you wash new clothes before wearing them? Not usually my own, unless it is underwear. I wash all of Colton clothes before he wears them.

Almost a week away from my boy---
I had to go to Athens, GA last Monday for a workshop so that meant 4 days away from Colton. I could have stayed over on Thursday night, but I wanted to drive home so I could be there when he woke up on Friday morning. He stayed with Grammy and they did all right together. She said he would say "Momma?" and look out the door, but never really cried or got upset. Steve would go by in the mornings to say "hey" and I know he ate a couple meals with them. I know you must be asking "well if Steve was home, why wasn't he watching Colton?" He was out on a couple interviews and in the 21 months that Colton has been around, he has only changed one diaper and that was a couple weeks ago. He has never given him a bath or put him to bed. I just figured it would be less stressful for Colton if he stayed with Grammy. Mom brought him home on Thursday night and put him to bed there so Friday morning when he woke up I went in and got him. He was so happy!!! He just kept saying "my momma" over and over.
He seems to be doing better lately. He has been playing with the triplets quite regularly and they seem to get along. Sometimes he plays a little rough with them, but I think that is just being a boy as opposed to being a little girl. We went to Addison's 2nd birthday party and he played very well with the kids there. He jumped in the bounce house and played on the slide. He even waited his turn. We may have turned a small corner in that aspect.
He definitely has his terrible two moments a little early. He is getting to where if he doesn't want to do something and you try and make him walk, he will lay on the floor and go limp. I just pick him up and then he gets mad and tries to pinch. Yesterday he got a hold of spray starch and sprayed it all over the cabinet. I went in there and said in a loud stern voice "Bad boy. We do not do that" and he broke down in huge tears and went and sat in his timeout spot. He is starting to get the concept when he does bad things--he just doesn't care yet!!
I thought he swallowed a marble on Friday. He got into the vase that has marbles and when I went to get him, he started running away. I caught him and asked him if he swallowed a marble and he said "yeah". He wasn't choking on it or anything. I called the pediatrician and they said to take him to the ER to get x-rays. I decided not to do that though. He wasn't "plugged up" so I think he just agreed with me.
I need to add his 21 month picture. I just don't have a good one right now. Next week he will be 22 months so I guess I should get one done before then!!

Good weekend
I know for me, weekends are almost always good--I don't have to get up early, I don't have to go to work, I can wear whatever I want, and I get to spend all day with my little man.
On Saturday, I had to take one of the horses to the vet to get his teeth looked at. His front teeth were a mess. One had broken years ago and the broken off piece was now coming out or the top of his gums. The tooth next to it wasn't wearing down like it should and was extremely long and was loose. So the vet pulled the piece out and then pulled the long tooth as well. Poor old guy looked like he had been a loser in a fight.
After we got back from the vet, we went to Tallahassee so we could go to my favorite clothes store for Colton (which didn't have a lot in his size this time) and then we went to Toys-R-Us so I could get Addison (Brenda's little girl who is two months older than Colton) a birthday present for her party this Saturday. I could literally spend 1000s in that store if I won the lottery.
Sunday after church and Colton's nap, he had a "photo shoot" with a professional photographer at the playground. I have known her for about 6 years now. She was our photographer for our wedding and then she also takes pictures at the horse shows. So she has seen the progression of my "life" so to speak--single, then married, then had Colton, and now he is almost two. She wanted to use him as a model for her business. I knew it was going to be hot at the playground so I put jeans on him thankfully because it was very hot. She must have taken 200 shots of him just playing and posing. At first, he just played and she got shots, then he realized that she had a camera and would pose and say "cheese" for her. I am sure out of those 200 shots, she probably got maybe 10 good ones. He was in constant motion, so by the time the shutter went off, he was gone!! She wants to get some more later this week on a dirt road with an old pedal car she has. I can't wait to see the shots!!
Steve has been out a friend's house helping him cut and bale his hay fields. He leaves at about 8 in the morning and he doesn't get home until 9:30 or 10 and he is FILTHY when he gets home. It is hard work and I think he really likes having something to do during the day. He was getting pretty bored and depressed not working and just sitting home all day. Hopefully something will pan out for him in the job department soon and it will relieve some of the stress not having two incomes has caused.
Colton was doing well playing with the "girls" but today they had to leave after a little while because he was getting to physical with them. I think he getting more used to playing with them and now is reverting back to his crazy self. Plus they are little girls and he is a "rough and tumble boy". Apparently no biting, but a little pinching and pushing occurred today. He has a cold and I think he is teething AGAIN (based on the amount of drool that is pouring from his mouth) so that may attribute to some of his bad behavior (or that is just me making an excuse for him LOL).
Also on Saturday he was climbing on my back and choking me and pulling my hair--ugh. I kept telling him "NO" and was trying to redirect him. Well he kept at it and I pushed him off and he bent backwards and hurt his knee or leg somewhere and he started crying. Well when he is really hurt and crying, he forgets to breathe and he turns blue and passes out. This time it lasted a little longer than the last two times he has passed out--I would 30-45 seconds this time. Usually you can blow in his face and he will catch his breath, but not this time. He turned blue and went completely limp, then he started breathing again and came back around and started crying again. It is a "family" thing I guess. My mom did it, I did it, one of my nieces did it, and now Colton does it as well. Usually we out grow it by about 2 1/2 years old. If he ever does it with Steve, he will FREAK OUT!!!

Colton's "date"
There are a set of triplets that live down the street from Mom's house. They are a little less than two months younger than Colton (they were born the end of January, but were actually due in March). We have talked to their parents and the babysitter when they have been out walking and Colton would go over to them and and try and hold their hands (and then try and bite them!!), but the other day the babysitter was out on a walk with them while Mom and Colton were outside playing. Colton went over to say hi and was very nice with them. Mom and Amber (the sitter) talked for a while and she said that the parents really wanted the girls to get out more and play with other kids so she invited Colton over for a "playdate"yesterday morning. Great, Mom and I thought--he finally gets invited over for a playdate and he still is biting. She said that she took him over there and all three played outside in the yard and Colton was very good--no biting or pinching. Apparently he was sweet on one of the girls (the cute one to boot!!). She said that they had a good time. Well this morning she saw Amber while they were walking again and she invited Colton back over, so I guess it must have gone well the first day. Mom said he played well today also. He would bring the girls their juice cups and he waited on them to go down the slide. Maybe he isn't quite so bad after all (or we have just been lucky these last couple times!! :O)
As an aside, Colton still REALLY needs sponsors for his baby contest (Remember I don't like the word pageant for a boy! LOL) Tickets are only $1 each.
Hope everyone has a great evening. It was actually 65 degrees here this morning when I got up. Of course now it is probably backup to 90, but at least it was nice this morning. I love "fall" here in Florida. I would love it if it got down to about 65 at night and during the day about 80-85 all year long--that would be perfect weather. Cool enough at night to open the windows and warm enough during the day for shorts and swimming.

I'm tired.....
of having NO MONEY.
of not getting enough sleep at night.
of people saying that Colton's biting is just a "phase".
of not understanding what Colton wants because he has no words.
of people saying that they are going to do something and then not doing it.
of people who say they will call, and then don't (kinda goes along with above statement).
of my husband not working.
of my husband thinking that 10:30 in the morning is a good time to start drinking.
of not having anything to do.
of not having anywhere exciting to go.
of not having any really good friends that I can turn to to talk.
of not being happy in my own skin.
of not being happy in general.
of feeling like I am failing as a parent.
of feeling "stuck".
Sorry this is such a "downer" post, but I really have been just so physically and mentally tired these past couple months or so.

Down the slide I go
Took Colton down to the pool on Saturday since it is still 95 degrees here. He really loves to go down the water slide and I finally got it on video. All I had was my cell phone and it is really quick, but you get to see him fly down the slide!! He literally jumps out and goes right back up the ladder. I think he probably slid 100 times that day. He jumped off the diving board too but I couldn't video it.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

I've had "blogger block"
Lately I sit down to blog and then I don't. I feel like I have a lot to say, but when I sit down to write it down, I think "no one wants to hear about this" and I delete what I have written. I follow Ree on http://thepioneerwoman.com/ (who doesn't right?) and she did a pretty good blog the other day on the ten important things she has learned about blogging. Several rang true to me.
Blog often.
Whether you write a sixteen-paragraph essay about the cosmic implications of a free market system, a one-paragraph description of what happens to your soul when you walk into your godforsaken laundry room, or a simple photo and caption, consider your blog a precious bloom that requires daily nurturing.
Don’t be afraid to embarrass yourself.
On this website, over the course of the past five years, I have burped, performed Britney Spears songs in Ethel Merman’s voice, misspelled words, posted typos, and talked about ways I humiliated myself as both a youngster and an adult.
If you have writer’s block, push through and blog anyway.
Value every person who takes time out of their day to stop by your blog.
Tell ‘em you love ‘em. Regularly.
I am going to try and heed her advice a little more. It is quite cathartic to write sometimes. I have had a lot to deal with lately and maybe if I had written it down and got others input, it would have been easier to deal with.
I can't say that things are particularly better per say. Steve still isn't working. Colton is still crazy. I really think that he has ADHD. I don't feel as though he is "normal" for his age. Yes, toddlers are little balls of motion, but he is like a tornado. He just goes from one thing to another constantly. I know that a lot of his frustration has to do with not being able to communicate in the way that I can always understand him, but I try. I have seriously thought of putting him in daycare (even though I REALLY don't want to for several reasons). Mom took him to Toddler Time at the library today and she said he was pretty good, which is surprising. Everyone keeps telling me it is just a phase, but I an beginning to not believe them.
As a side note Colton is going to be in a contest in October and "he" has to sell sponser tickets. They are $1.00 a piece and your name goes into a drawing to win $50. Depending on how many tickets he sells, he could win a prize. I would just need your name and address to fill out the tickets. You can PM if anyone is interested in helping the little guy out!!
