Pay it Forward Day

April 29, 2010 is the Official "Pay It Forward Day" and I suggest all of you to put this day on your calender where we as a group make a conscious effort apart from our normal daily routines. I saw on another Mommy blog where she was going to send a small care package to the first person who commented on her blog and I have decided to do the same--nothing fancy, just some small toys or craft items for your little one(s). So to the first person who comments, I will then send you an email to get all your information--make sure your email is enabled or you can leave it as well. Hope this works!!!

We are back!!!

Let me start out by saying that the Sunday before we left was the scariest moment of my parenting life so far. I was outside with Colton in the yard cutting down some weeds and cherry laurel off shoots. He was running around in the fenced part of the yard playing ball with the dog. There is a small porch that has two concrete steps that lead into the back door. Apparently he went up the steps and either fell or rolled down the steps. I heard a "thump" and my heart immediately sank. He came around the corner crying hysterically with no sound coming out. I could see that he had hit the side of his head, right above his hair line mid way in the middle of his head. I picked him right up and was trying to calm him down. i was blowing in his face to try and get him to breathe. All of a sudden his eyes rolled up in his head and he went limp for about 5 seconds. I kinda shook him and kept blowing in his face and he started breathing again and crying. I consoled him for a about 10 minutes before he quit crying. I looked at his eyes and there was no dilation. The bump was out and not sunken in. After that 10 minutes or so, he was back to running around the yard. I took him in and gave him a bath and was terrified he was going to die in his sleep from a head injury or a brain aneurysm like Natasha Richardson did. I kept going to his door to try and hear if he was making any noise and of course I got NO SLEEP that night. I heard him at about 6:30 making noise. Steve didn't notice until the next day and just said "what did he do that last night?" I said yeah and he left it at that.

We made it back from our cruise "adventure". Honestly it went better than I thought it would. I was most concerned about Colton's sleeping and dinner time. The boats can be noisy and with him sleeping in Mom's room, she would have to come in when she was ready for bed and I was worried that would wake him up. Also he goes to bed at 7:30 so I was concerned it just wouldn't work. He went right down for his naps and for the night and he slept like a champ!!! Dinner went all right as well. We ate at 5:45 and by about 7:00, he was just get fussy, but that was the time that dessert came so he was ok. He ate really well. He made a HUGE mess both on himself and the floor but he was congenial and flirting with the ladies and made friends with all the waiters. It was a little rough during the day that we were cruising all day though. I had to find something for him to do to run off his energy--so he climbed up and down the stairs many, many, many times!! We went to the pool everyday afternoon after his nap.

Happy Friday

It is finally Friday and I couldn't be happier!! Seems this week has gone by really slow. It is probably because I have all next week off while we are on our cruise. It will be hard to come back to work after being in the Caribbean for a 5 days!! I have slowly been getting everything together that I think I "might" need. I think I have about packed Colton entire room already. I look around and think "well maybe I might need this" and into the suitcase it goes. I even made a checklist, but I am sure I will end up forgetting something. It is definitely going to be an adventure. I will take lots of pictures. Hopefully we all make it back in one piece!!!

Still concerned with Colton's talking as of now. I just feel that he isn't talking as much as he should. He says mama, dada, bird, my mama, milk, and meme (which means either mine or I want it). He knows some animal sounds. His favorite, and best one, is cow for which he moos. He knows dog, sheep and donkey as well. He doesn't really repeat much either. Most people I have talked to said that he is fine, but I just don't know. He understands things, he just can't vocalize them. He follows directions--most of the time. I am just waiting for that light bulb to turn on inside his little brain I guess. I said "well at least he is cute!!"

I will miss reading everyone's blog while we are gone. I certainly will have a lot of catching up to do when we get back. Hope everyone has a great weekend and I safe next week.

We have had a pretty uneventful week so far--which is good. I am trying to get everything packed and together for the cruise. We leave on Monday. Please say a prayer for me--I am going to need it!!!

Colton had MOPS yesterday. His first time back since I went last time and had the "encounter" with the rude woman. All went well. When Mom went to pick him up, they said he was good and no reports of biting. He did have two red marks on his face. Apparently they said he "ran into a swing." Not sure if it was empty or if someone was swinging and he ran into them--they didn't elaborate. I was sure they it was going to turn into a black and blue mark and all the pictures from next week, he would have bruise across his face, but they seemed to have faded.

Who says tough guys can't wear pink????

Still not back to normal

I still am not back to normal on the whole "feeling well" front. Friday night I tried to eat a little dinner and that didn't last, so then I tried saltines and water--nope didn't stay around long either. Saturday I woke up feeling poorly so Steve took Colton grocery shopping for their first "alone time" ever. I was a little unsure about the whole thing, but they made it back after several stops at three different grocery stores. I wasn't feeling too bad, so I loaded up Colton so that we could go to the barn. I went by Mom's to get her so she could help with him while we were at the barn. They had been talking about getting a new car and wanted to go over to the car dealership to see if his ginormous car seat would fit in the back seat, so I said I would go with them. We loaded up and went to Lake City. On the drive over, I felt ok. Once there, we switched the car seat and took the car for a test drive. We had to stop and get gas so I got a Ginger Ale hopping it would help with the nausea. I thought it was helping somewhat. After we took the car back, we stopped for lunch. I clearly wasn't hungry, so I got a table and waited with Colton. By the time they got to the table, I had to run to the bathroom and then go outside to get a little air. When I came back in, I felt as though I was going to pass out. We loaded up in the car and headed home. Once back, Colton went down for his nap and so did I. I slept a couple hours and then felt well enough to drive back home. I ate a biscuit for dinner and that stayed down. I slept pretty well that night and got up feeling not so queasy so we went to church and then to Sonny's for lunch. I ate a half a sandwich and that felt like a ton of bricks sitting on my stomach. I ate the other half for dinner and woke up this morning still feeling the same way. I have a headache and still feel sick to my stomach. I would go to the doctor, but I am not sure what he could do for me. If I am not better by Wednesday, I probably will go in though. We leave in a week on our cruise I sure as heck don't want to go on vacation feeling like this!!!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday everyone!!! I have been a little slow on blogging this week. We have been pretty busy here at work with meetings and samples and I had a dentist appointment, plus I have not felt well these last couple days. I have been nauseous and felt at any moment I could "lose my lunch". I feel somewhat better this morning, but that twinge is still there. Having to deal with a very active 16 month old sometimes makes the feeling subside for at least a little while.

As you can see from the picture, Colton got a new ride--his very own Cozy Coupe. I got it the other day and put it together all by myself while watching TV that night. Let me tell you, that thing was a bit of a bugger to get done. Since the "instructions" that come with things now days are just pictures and no words anymore (I guess to save from having to write them in so many languages, which makes sense), it makes the assembly a little more difficult.
We have almost two acres of a yard that he can play in and he has no outside toys. He is really too little right now for a swing set, so I spend my time chasing him away from the garbage cans, the burn pile and other various non-toy things that he insists on playing with. He loves to push our yard cart around, so I bought him a little wagon with shovels and pails in it as well.

He prefers to push the Coupe around instead of riding in it.

Easter weekend

Grammy helping out.

In his Sunday best.
During the hunt.

At the flowering of the cross.

We had a great Easter weekend. The weather was gorgeous. On Saturday we got up and went to Lake Park to see Brenda and Addison. They were having a "festival" at the outlets. We there wasn't much of a festival, but I did do a little shopping!! There was a petting zoo so the kids got to pet goats, bunnies, and a sheep. Colton seemed to really enjoy it. He kept trying to grab the goat by the tail though. Then we took the kids back to Brenda's for lunch and so they could take their naps. The Easter egg hunt was at 3:00 so we went back for that. The Easter bunny was there and from a distance at first Colton didn't mind, but then the bunny touched him and he lost it!! I have never known him to be afraid of anything like he was with the bunny. The hunt went well. There was probably 500 or more kids there!! Colton and Addison did good though. We emptied all the eggs when we got home and threw all the "treasures" out since it was nothing that Colton could play with. He likes to carry his eggs around in his bucket though. I have pictures, but they are on my Mom's camera and I don't have it here with me. I did post the pictures on my Facebook page though.

Sunday we went to the early service and went home for a while so Colton could rest a little and eat lunch before the egg hunt there at noon. Good thing too because the nursery had 16 kids at the 11:00 service. Normally there is about 3 or 4. We got to church a little early and Colton had a great time playing with all the kids there. That hunt went well as well. There was candy in those eggs so we kept that "loot." There was an Easter bunny there too and Colton had a fit once again, but this time even when he was across the yard!! I had to settle him down to get his picture in front of the cross.

I still can't figure out how to add pictures the way I want them to be. I want to be able to write above the first picture and I never can. Also they are never in the order that I want them to be in!! Oh well-- you get the idea.
